See breakdown below InService MLL 22,343 students or 25.4 of the student population Redesignated MLL 4,008 students or 4.5 of the student population Provisional MLL 2,450 students or 2.4 of the population Therefore, the ability to speak in Spanish and English is essential in order to adequately and efficiently support students of all backgrounds within in this role. DPS values its diverse student population and the unique contribution of every student. DPS has students who speak one or more of 180 languages. DPS is the largest school district in Colorado, with more than 91,000 students. 45 of these students are English Learners. The foreign language ELA requirement is grounded in DPS value of Equity. When English Learners can participate meaningfully and equally, their contributions benefit all students. DPSs English Language Acquisition programs give English Learners the skills they need to bring their assets to the classroom and succeed in school and beyond. Over the past three school years, English Learners who successfully exit ELA program services have had higher graduation rates and lower dropout rates than all other DPS students.
