Specific Skills The Application Engineer III will be based out of the companys San Ramon field office located at 2010 Crow Canyon Place Suite 150, San Ramon, California 94583. However, because the company has numerous customers nationwide, some travel is required, as the incumbent will occasionally and on a shortterm basis be deployed to various customer sites. Candidates must therefore be willing to travel to various unanticipated locations throughout the United States on an ongoing basis.br br Candidates must possess, at minimum, a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electric Power Systems Engineering or a related engineering field as well as 60 months of fulltime, professional, postbaccalaureate, progressively responsible work experience as an Automation Engineer, Automation Application Engineer, Communications Application Engineer, or related occupation. All candidates must also possess knowledge, as evidenced by passing a basic technical proficiency test, of at least six out of the seven following subject matter areas i industrial automation system practices, automation applications, and associated protocols; ii electric power and control system practices, integration applications, and associated protocols; iii SCADA system theory, design, and operation including common data types, HMI, and PLC; iv theory, application, design, and use of communication protocols such as IEC61850, DNP, and Modbus; v theory, application, use, and analysis of power system communications engineering and related SEL products involving fiber optics, microwave and spreadspectrum radio, and wired protection; vi industry network design and security practices; and vii application and use of control network communications systems, including TDM and Ethernet technologies, communications test sets and analyzers, and time synchronization and distribution tools. Note All candidates for all engineering positions at the company must pass a basic technical proficiency test. Candidates must also be willing to comply with the companys DrugFree and TobaccoFree policies.
